Stupid Geniouses

this is agian sorta along the lines of advertising and even thouhgt i hate it, i have to tip my hat to 96X (96.3 FM) here in Edmonton AB. They have mastered the advertising, even when they dont try. The frist story is not the best example i have but a good one. So on the morning show about a week ago BJ and Shannon played a newly acuired, unreleased version of Jacob's (canadian idol dude) "Awake in a dream". no big deal right, wrong. see ive been told that Kaylin (a guy) won the canadian idolship this year and as a "reward" got to release the song writen for the winner, "awake in a dream". So this Jacob version got played and many people loved it an wanted it played again. But the DJ's realized they shouldnt play it again and only played 10 sec clips (apparently thats ok). So all the K (im calling him k cuz im not sure how to spell it exactly, like genious). fans called and emailed in and got all angry and stuff cuz its "his" song. so anyway there are all these people all angry and stuff, and people emailing in saying "im never listening to your show again. signed, mr dude, ONTARIO" like they care. So this story of the song playing was in a newspaper or 2 here in edmonton, and then local news in calgary to the south. then CTV put it on there national news. So suddenly 96X is being talked about all over canada. And like they say, there is no such thing as negative publicity.
Ok amazing story. 96X is like a god when it comes to advertising. There idea? "the 96X $10,000 fugitive". interesting? very. So there is a person in the edmonton area and only 2 people know who it is, the person themselves and the person who asked the other person. So this person could be anyone. And if you find this person you get 10,000 dollars of cold hard cash. sweet, so how do you find this person? you ask anyone and everyone a simple question, "Are you the 96X 10,000 dollar fugitive?". if they are you win, if they arnt, then you just advertised for 96X. Ya so however people are running around looking for this person and advertising them on the radio like every 15 mins. I would be suprised if someone in edmonton had not heard of this yet. And to "help" people out, clues are given at 8, 12 and 16 o'clock. The adds get very annoying but it is one of the best schemes ive heard of. I tip my hat to the evil corperation behind 96X.
