Hanks to play Langdon

I just heard on the radio and then found on imdb.com that the hit book The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown WIll be made into a movie. The movie is staring Tom Hanks, and directed by Ron Howard.
Ian's opinion: First of all, the book was absolutely amazing, but can it be turned into a movie? One of the great things about the book is all the almost offtopic notes and stuff about a ton of cool stuff, example, phi, that make the book so interesting. My guess is that most of these will be taken out in order to make the movie a reasonable length. that will be a great detroment to the movie. On a positive side, alot of the artwork and scenery and other things can be tricky to picture, there is an illustrated version of the book out that is pretty cool, but a movie will definatly help that. My greatest concern, think of of other book movies tomhanks did. The Polar Express, didnt read the book or see the movie so no sure, Catch Me If You Can now that one I saw. to be fair it could have been a good movie, in not really sure. But one thing that really annoyed me is that the book was sooo good, but the movie was changed so much. Im watching it and going, no, thats not right Even the little significan details, for example, his first con was different in the movie than in the book. so i was very disapointed by the movie, but i wouldnt have read the book if the movie hadnt come out most likely (i read the book, then saw the movie)
Summing up the rambling: The movie could be big, but my hopes are pretty low.
Ian
