Do old people have slow reflexes

The other day I saw a picture of three mathy people (one of which was albert Einstein) and it made me think

So my brother has a bit of a problem. Whenever a picture is taken, he almost always seems to blink. This is often not too big of a problem due to the growing amount of digital stuff. People can look at the picture, see his eyes were closed and take another one. I am pretty sure my brother is not the only one who suffers from this problem, I am always seeing pictures with peoples eyes closed.
Now lets rewind a bit. Lets go back to the time in which taking a picture was no small thing. you had to fill the tray with powder and go under the dark hood. Developing was also a long process. So my question to you is, Why do you never see old pictures with peoples eyes closed?

(ok ok, there is probably a good reason(s). For example today the shear number of photos taken increase the chance of eyes-closed-ness, so when they would only take maybe one a day, less chance. Or more likely, people just through away the eyesclosedness pictures (after going "D'OH i wasted all that time on it"), or maybe they exist but no one ever shows them).

Well that is my cent and a half, chill,
